I’m Leanne
“My boxer, Daisy, brings me absolute joy! Just looking at the painting of Daisy always brings the same warm fuzzy feelings as if I'm with her and gives me a chance to brag about how awesome Daisy was!" Leanne Hanson
More About Me!
As an established professional painter for well over 30 years, I have accumulated experience painting many custom commissioned paintings from landscapes, florals to portraits. I have had many pets myself! - gerbils, fish, 3 cats, 4 dogs and a cockatiel bird!
I know how they make me feel!
That is why I love painting pets for others!
My pet portraits are a celebration of the uplifting pets' magic and joy. For me, capturing the essence of pets is not just about showcasing their likeness - it's about interpreting their energy and vitality that they exude. When people feel uplifted by my pet portraits, it brings me great joy, knowing that I have added a little more happiness to the world. So, whether it's the happy scenes or the playful expressions on pets' faces and eyes, my hope is that each painting offers a source of positivity and great memories, bringing a little more joy and light into people's lives.
I have been a professional artist for over 30 years. My passion for art started very young. Now, after looking back, The question was it nurture or nature?.. Was it the fact I grew up surrounded by art? or was it because of genetics? Having a father, Arthur E. Smith, with a PhD in art education, an art professor, and an artist himself was instrumental in my art education with years of personal instruction and mentoring. After finishing School as a landscape designer, my painting style developed by combining the technical drawing skills from a landscape design degree at the University of Minnesota and personal fine art training and classes. After college, I continued painting successfully part time while working with my husband in our business. I have been commissioned to paint many paintings of diverse subjects for customers such as portraits, architectural city scapes, and natural landscapes. I have sold many paintings at shows and my artwork is displayed in numerous private and corporate collections nationally. In 2016, I painted a portrait of my dog, Daisy. After showing my friends and family I was getting requests to paint their pets! the rest is history- I still paint and show my landscapes and flowers, seen here, but I have a spot in my heart for pet portraits! I paint them large and very small! You can see a few of my pet portraits in my gallery page here.
